It’s getting colder outside and that may mean your commercial HVAC system is working harder than ever to keep your employees and guests comfortable. The good news is that commercial HVAC systems are build with longevity in mind and are known to be durable. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few concerns that come along with maintaining one. Here are a few ways you can keep your commercial HVAC system working how you need it to and what louvers may be able to do to benefit you.
Monthly Tasks
Double check and make sure everyone is on the same page as far as the thermostat goes. Employees and guests should feel comfortable so if anyone says anything to indicate otherwise, take the time to see if you need to make any adjustments. You also want to periodically change your thermostat depending on what month it is and what the weather is looking like. Take a look at your HVAC’s filters and swap them out if they’re dirty, especially because these can contribute to allergies people may be experiencing. Finally, if your unit is outdoors, make sure there isn’t anything blocking up the system. Airflow is important for keeping a commercial HVAC system working which is why custom louvers are such a good option for protecting your HVAC unit.
Seasonal Goals
Before it gets too cold outside, you ought to open any furnaces you may have and use a vacuum to get rid of all that muck that has likely built up in there—cobwebs and dust must go! If there are any loose connections, make sure to fix those as well. As far as outdoor condenser coils go, pick a time where it’s going to be warmer outside and use a garden hose to clean off your condenser coils.
Yearly
While using a garden hose to clean off those condenser coils is a good practice to regularly perform, you also want to make sure you’re doing a more deep clean at least yearly. Just take some dish soap and warm water, mix the two, and place it in a spray bottle. Then, spray the bottle onto the condenser coils and spray it off with the hose. Lastly, it may be a good idea to have an HVAC tech come out and check to see if there are any issues, especially if you feel as though your system has been underperforming lately.
